There is resistance to the drug ivermectin by the horse roundworm (Parascaris equorum) which can cause intestinal blockages and/or colic in foals. As ivermectin is found in the majority of wormers in the market these days some drug companies have developed triple drug horse wormers to counteract any resistance.
Equitak excell (green) contains Abamecin/oxfendazole/praziquantel
Equimax elevation contains ivermectin/pyrantel embonate/praziqnatel
Horse owners should use a triple wormer for the first year of worming for foals.
